Threat win season finale on the road

The Racine Threat got just the shot of momentum they needed Saturday night. In their final regular-season game, the Threat beat the Midstate Steel 40-16 in a Mid-States Football League game at the Dragon's Dome at Pekin, Ill., winning on the road for just the second time this season. Quarterback Ben Adrian passed for three touchdowns - two to Alfredo Jackson and one to Mike Pottinger - and Greg Sanders rushed for 100 yards on 10 carries and scored two touchdowns. The Threat (6-2) will take Labor Day weekend off, then begin the MSFL playoffs Sept. 12 with a noon game against the Leyden Lions at Ameche Field in Kenosha. The Threat have lost three straight games to the Lions, including a 35-28 loss Aug. 15. "We still have a lot of work to do," Threat coach Brent Moss said. "We're getting ready for the playoffs. I'm excited for the effort this evening on the road."
